Although rumours have been swirling for some time, Nintendo have taken to Social media to officially announce a partnership with Illumination for the creation of the upcoming, fully CGI, Super Mario movie.

Nintendo appears to heave learnt from it's previous mistakes when lending out their company mascot for film, with Nintendo's own Shigeru Miyamoto co-producing alongside Illuminations Chris Meledandr. At least we can be sure that this attempt will not be set in a post apocolyptic alternative dimension with strange tiny headed goombas.

The news has divided fans across social media with some taking to Nintendo's official channels to express thier concerns, mainly that the company that birthed the Minions may not be the best choice in maintaining the integrity of a main franchise character, one which so many have grown into adulthood with. Only time will tell.

No further casting information has been disclosed yet but we will keep our ear to the ground. Join us on Twitter or Facebook and let us know what you think about the news!
